THE BUSH SAFARI CO.

Rex Ellis began his safari operations in 1965, having gained valuable experience on South Australian and Western Australian stations, working as a jackeroo and an overseer.  Rex is a keen ornithologist and naturalist, his safaris are nature oriented, and have observed the conservation ethic for years before the term "Ecotourism" was coined.

As Australia's longest operating safari guide and an early pioneer in the industry, there are many firsts to Rex's credit. These include  safari operations in the Nullarbor, Great Victoria Desert, Great Australian Bight, coast regions plus longer journeys taking in the Gibson and Great Sandy Deserts and the Kimberley Region.

During the inland floods of 1974 he led a boat expedition down the Diamantina River and made the only full crossing (North to South) of Lake Eyre, full for the first time in white man's memory.
The same year he operated two boat safaris down the flooding Cooper Creek to the lake.
